SPECIAL MEETING
January 17,2013
A)Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor
Peard at 5:32 p.m.in the Waukee City Council Chambers,
B)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council Members Shane
Blanchard,Dan Dutcher,Casey L.Harvey,Shelly Hughes,Mike Watts.Absent:None,
Also in attendance:Interim City Administrator Brad Deets,Director of Finance Linda Burkhart,
Human Resources Manager/Assistant Finance Director Patty Holden,Deputy City Clerk Rebecca D.
Schuett,City Attorney Steve Brick.
C)Agenda Approval -Council Member Dutcher moved to approve the agenda;seconded by Council
Member Blanchard.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Dutcher,Harvey,Hughes,Watts.Nays:
None.Motion carried 5 -O.
D)Action Items:
1)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the appointment of a
new City Administrator for the City of Waukee and establishing terms of employment-
Council Member Dutcher moved to approve the resolution;seconded by Council Member
Hughes.Mayor Peard announced that the new City Administrator was Tim Moerman of
Ankeny,IA.On the advice of legal counsel,Council Member Dutcher amended the motion to
approve the resolution,naming Tim Moerman as City Administrator;Council Member Blanchard
seconded the amendment.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Dutcher,Harvey,Hughes,Watts.
Nays:None.Motion carried 5 -O.(Resolution #13-019)Mayor Peard ushered Tim Moerman
into the Council Chambers;Mr.Moerman made a brief statement expressing his gratitude to
the mayor and council for approving his appointment.Mayor Peard and each council member
made individual statements welcoming Mr.Moerman to the City Administrator position.
E)Comments
Adjournment -Council Member Harvey moved to adjourn;seconded by Council Member Dutcher.
Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 5 -O.
