SPECIAL MEETING
April 29,2013
A.Call to Order -The special meeting/work session of the Waukee City Council was called to order
by Mayor Peard at 5:32 p.m.in the Waukee City Council Chambers.
B.Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council Members Shane
Blanchard,Casey L.Harvey,Shelly Hughes,Mike Watts.Absent:None.
Also in attendance:City Administrator Tim Moerman,Director of Public Works John Gibson,Deputy
City Clerk Rebecca D.Schuett,City Attorney Steve Brick.
C.Agenda Approval -Council Member Harvey moved to approve the agenda;seconded by Council
Member Blanchard.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Harvey,Hughes,Watts.Nays:None.
Motion carried 4 -O.
D.Action Items:
1)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving farm lease with J.Harry
Copeland -Council Member Blanchard moved to approve the resolution;seconded by Council
Member Harvey.Director of Public Works Gibson briefly reviewed the lease.Results of vote:
Ayes:Blanchard,Harvey,Hughes,Watts.Nays:None.Motion carried 4 -O.(Resolution #13-
101)
2)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving gas work blanket bid
with InfraSource,Inc.-Council Member Harvey moved to approve the resolution;seconded
by Council Member Hughes.Director of Public Works Gibson briefly reviewed the blanket bid
procedures.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Harvey,Hughes,Watts.Nays:None.Motion
carried 4 -O.(Resolution #13-102)
E.Work Session:
1)Review letters of interest for filling a vacant city council seat -City Administrator Moerman
and City Attorney Brick briefly reviewed the process for filling a vacant city council seat through
appointment.Mayor Peard noted that the person appointed would serve for a short interim
period.The council reviewed the attributes necessary for the individual appointed to the
position.After a ballot,the council unanimously approved the appointment of C.Isaiah McGee
to fill the vacant city council seat.
F.Comments
Adjournment -Council Member Harvey moved to adjourn;seconded by Council Member Blanchard.
Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 4 -O.
