SPECIAL MEETING
December 23,2013
A.Call to Order -The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor Pro
Tern Hughes at 12:04 p.m.in the Clerk's Office at City Hall.
B.Roll Call -The following members were present:Council Members Shane Blanchard (via
telephone),Casey L.Harvey (via telephone),Shelly Hughes (via telephone),C,Isaiah McGee (via
telephone).Absent:Mayor William F.Peard,Council Member Mike Watts.
Also in attendance:Director of Public Works John Gibson,City Clerk Rebecca D.Schuett.
C.Agenda Approval-Council Member McGee moved to approve the agenda;seconded by Council
Member Blanchard.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Harvey,Hughes,McGee,Nays:None.
Absent:Watts.Motion carried 4 -0 -1.
D.Action Items:
1)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving Gilcrest Jewett Lumber
Company settlement agreement -Council Member Blanchard moved to approve the
resolution;seconded by Council Member Harvey.Director of Public Works Gibson briefly
reviewed the settlement agreement which addresses compensation to Gilcrest Jewett for right-
of-way acquisition and loss of access to the southern portion of their property.Council Member
Hughes questioned the total square footage for compensation;Mr.Gibson noted the square
footage and cost per square foot.Council Member Harvey asked about the new access
location and the City's costs for access installation;Mr.Gibson replied that the access would
align with that of Peoples Trust and Savings Bank and that the City was responsible only for the
cost to the end of the access return radius.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Harvey,Hughes,
McGee.Nays:None.Absent:Watts.Motion carried 4 -0 -1.(Resolution #13-333)
E.Comments
Adjournment -Council Member McGee moved to ad'urn;seconded by Council Member Harvey,
Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 4 -O.
