WORK SESSION MEETING
January 27,2014
A)Call to Order -The work session meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor
Peard at 6:15 p.m.in the Waukee City Council Chambers.
B)Roll Call-The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council Members Shane
Blanchard,Brian Harrison,Casey L.Harvey,Shelly Hughes,Rick Peterson.Absent:None.
Also in attendance:City Administrator Tim Moerman,Director of Finance Linda Burkhart,Director of
Public Works John Gibson,Assistant Director of Public Works Tim Royer,Gas Superintendent Dave
Dezeeuw,GIS Coordinator Evan Koester,Street Superintendent Dan Werts,WaterlWaste Water
Supervisor Chuck Waske,Stormwater Coordinator Jenny Corkrean,Senior Engineering Technician
Tony Hanson,Mechanic Oren Peterson,Parks and Recreation Director Matt Jermier,Recreation
Supervisor Josh VandeKamp,Recreation Supervisor Danae Edwards,Golf Professional/Clubhouse
Manager Jim Webb,Grounds Superintendent Steve Elliott,Park Superintendent Ron Heimann,City
Clerk Rebecca D.Schuett.
C)Agenda Approval -Council Member Harvey moved to approve the agenda;seconded by Council
Member Harrison.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Harrison,Harvey,Hughes,Peterson.Nays:
None.Motion carried 5 -O.
D)Work Session:
1)FY2015 Budget -The City Council and department directors reviewed those proposed budget
items related to Public Works/utilities,Parks and Recreation,Sugar Creek Municipal Golf
Course,Finance/Utility Billing,and Administration/City Hall building.City Administrator
Moerman stated that he would draft a budget transmittal memo that would outline for citizens
the significant aspects of the budget.
E)Comments -Mayor Peard noted the police chief candidate tours conducted earlier in the day,as
well as the more formal interviews on 01/28.He also briefly discussed the process for the City
Administrator annual performance review.
Adjournment -Council Member Harvey moved to adjourn;seconded by Council Member Hughes.
Ayes:All.Nays:None.Motion carried 5 -O.
