SPECIAL MEETING
March 25,2015
A.Call to Order —The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem
Peterson at 11:34a.m.at Waukee City Hall,230 W.Hickman Rd.
B.Roll Call —The following members were present:Council Members Shane Blanchard (via telephone),
Brian Harrison (via telephone),Casey L.Harvey (via telephone),Shelly Hughes (via telephone),Rick
Peterson (via telephone).Absent:Mayor William F.Peard.
Also in attendance:City Administraior Tim Moerman,City Clerk Rebecca D.Schuett,Police Lt.Troy
Mapes.
C.Agenda Approval —Council Member Hughes moved io approve the agenda;seconded by Council
Member Harrison.Results of vote:Ayes:Blanchard,Harrison,Harvey,Hughes,Peterson.Nays:
None.Motion carried 5 —0.
D.Action Items:
1)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving temporary parking.along
the south side of SE Olson Drive from SE Crabapple Drive east to SE Alice's Road between
the hours of 8:00 a.m.and 8:00 p.m.on March 27,March 28,and March 29,2015 —Council
Member Harrison moved to approve the resolution;seconded by Council Member Harvey.City
Administrator Moerman briefly reviewed the parking request.Council Member Harvey voiced his
concern with approving temporary parking on a weekday;Lt.Mapes noted that officers would
patrol the area more heavily on Friday and will work with the Sports Plex West owners if any
issues arise.Council Member Harvey wondered if the ordinance should be amended to allow
weekend parking on SE Olson Drive;City staff will research the matter.Council Member Harrison
stated that temporary street parking was not a long-term solution and that Sports Plex West may
need to consider other parking options for future events.(Council Member Blanchard ended
participation via telephone at 11:41 a.m.)Results of vote:Ayes:Harrison,Hughes,Peterson.
Nays:Harvey.Absent:Blanchard.Motion carried 3 —1 —1.(Resolution 415-087)Council
Member Harvey explained that he voted against ihe resolution due to the Friday street parking
request.
E.Comments —The City Council agreed to a special meeting on 03/27 at 1:00 p.m.
Council Member Harrison moved to adjourn;seconded by Council Member Harvey.Ayes:All.Nays:None.
Motion carried 4 —0.
Meeting Adjourned at 11:44 a.m.
