HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-06-27-Special MinutesWAUKEE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING June 27,2017 A.Call to Order —The special meeting of the Waukee City Council was called to order by Mayor Peard at 12:01 p.m.at Waukee City Hall,230 W.Hickman Rd. B.Roll Call —The following members were present:Mayor William F.Peard;Council Members Anna Bergman (via telephone),R.Charles Bottenberg (via telephone),Brian Harrison (via telephone),Shelly Hughes (via telephone),Larry R.Lyon.Absent:None.(Council Member Harrison ended participation via telephone at 12:05 p.m.) Also in attendance:City Administrator Tim Moerman,Development Services Director Brad Deets, Public Works Director John Gibson,Finance Director Linda Burkhart,Human Resource Director Patty Holden,City Clerk Rebecca D.Schuett. C.Agenda Approval —Council Member Lyon moved to approve the agenda;seconded by Council Member Hughes.Results of vote:Ayes:Bergman,Bottenberg,Harrison,Hughes,Lyon.Nays:None. Motion carried 5 —0. D.Action Items: 1)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution allowing for temporary Parking Area fStivers Ford Lincolnj —Council Member Harrison moved to approve the resolution;seconded by Council Member Lyon.Development Services Director Deets briefly reviewed the temporary parking request,noting that Stivers Ford Lincoln plans to construct permanent paving in the near future to address overflow parking.Council Member Lyon asked if Stivers Ford Lincoln owned the property in question;Mr.Deets replied in the affirmative.Results of vote:Ayes:Bergman, Bottenberg,Harrison,Hughes,Lyon.Nays:None.Motion carried 5 —0.(Resolution ¹17-307) 2)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution establishing wage or salary rates (correctedj for non-represented City of Waukee employees as of July 1,2017-Council Member Lyon moved to approve the resolution;seconded by Council Member Bergman.Human Resource Director Holden noted certain errors in the previously approved rates that have since been corrected.Results of vote:Ayes:Bergman,Bottenberg,Harrison,Hughes,Lyon.Nays: None.Motion carried 5 —0.(Resolution ¹17-308) 3)Resolution:Consideration of approval of a preliminary resolution pursuant to Section 384.42 of the lowe Code concerning the North Little Walnut Creek Drive improvement Project —Council Member Harrison moved to approve the resolution;seconded by Council Member Lyon.Public Works Director Gibson stated that all petitions,contracts,and waivers have been signed and submitted to the City.Council Member Lyon questioned resistance to the project from certain property owners;City Administrator Moerman explained that some property owners had questions that the City answered,adding that staff required all petitions,contracts and waivers to be signed and returned or the project would not move forward.(Council Member Harrison ended participation via telephone at 12:05 p.m.)Results of vote:Ayes:Bergman,Bottenberg, Hughes,Lyon.Nays:None.Absent:Harrison.Motion carried 4 —0 —1.(Resolution ¹17-309) E.Comments Council Member Lyon moved to adjourn;seconded by Council Member Hughes.Ayes:All.Nays:None.
