AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 501,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
REGARDING THE SPEED LIMIT ON SE WESTOWN PARKWAY WITHIN THK
CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA.
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has determined through a traffic study that a new speed
limit shall be implemented on certain portions of SE Westown Parkway within the City of Waukee.
BK IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1:Chapter 501,Waukee Municipal Code,Regulation of Traffic Upon and Use
of the Streets of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended by changing Section 501.9(F)(6)as follows:
tj501.9(F)(6)On the following-described streets,the maximum speed limit with
the variable display speed limit signs and beacons in operation shall be 25
mph.The maximum speed limit with variable display speed limit signs and
beacons not activated shall be 35 mph.The hours of operation shall be
established by the Public Works Department.
a.On Ashworth Drive from 75 feet east of the middle of its intersection with
Warrior Lane to 245 feet north of the middle of its intersection with
University.
b.On Boone Drive from a point 54 feet south of the North city limits and on
Boone Drive,south to a point 303 feet north of the middle of the
intersection of Boone Drive and Westwood Drive.
c.On SE L.A.Grant Parkway from 125 feet north of the middle of its
intersection with Westown Parkway to middle of its intersection with
Ashworth Road.
d.On SE Westown Parkway from the middle of its intersection with SE L.A.
Grant Parkway to the middle of its intersection with SE Willowbrook
Drive.
Section 2:Chapter 501,Waukee Municipal Code,Regulation of Traffic Upon and Use
of the Streets of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended by changing Section 501.9(F)(17)as follows:
tj501.9(F)(17)The speed limit on SE Westown Parkway between SE LA Grant
Parkway and SE Parkview Crossing Drive shall be 35 miles per hour.
Section 3 Re ealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4.Severabili Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section,provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 5.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final
passage,approval and publication as provided by law.
Passed by the Council the 19'"day of November,2018,and approved this 19'"day of November,
2018.
