AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 207,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT,POWERS AND DUTIES OF A PARK AND
RECREATION BOARD
WHEREAS,the City seeks to change the date tellliS for members expire on the Park and
Recreation Board.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1:Chapter 207,Waukee Municipal Code,Section 207.2 should be and the same
is hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof is as follows:
§207.2 Board Created,Appointed;Terms.There shall be a Park and Recreation Board
for the City of Waukee consisting of a Chairperson and nine (9)citizens of legal age
whose members shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the City
council for three (3)year overlapping terms to expire on January 31 of the
appropriate year.Members named upon the enactment of this chapter shall hold
office for such terms as the Mayor shall designate with the approval of the City
Council.The terms of not more than three (3)members shall expire in anyone year.
A.If any vacancy exists on the Board,a snccessor for the remainder of the term
shall be appointed in the same mauner as the original appointee.The position
of any Board member shall be vacant if the member resigns,moves
permanently from the City,or if said member is absent without due
explanation from six consecutive regular meetings of the Board,except :in the
case of sickness,or is removed for cause by the Mayor with the approval of
the Council.
B.Qualifications of the Board Members shall be a minimum age of eighteen
years and reside within the corporate limits of the City of Waukee,Dallas
County,Iowa.Board Members are required to possess a vital interest :in parks
and recreation as demonstrated by application for the position and
recommendation by a citizen of Waukee.
Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.1£any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section,provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional,
Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final
passage,approval and publication as provided by law.
