A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA, TO SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION TO THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IOWA
CLEAN AIR ATTAINMENT PROGRAM FOR THE PARTIAL FUNDING OF THE
CITY OF WAUKEE WARRIOR LANE, ASHWORTH DRIVE AND NORTHVIEW
DRIVE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act allows Iowa Department of
Transportation to allocate funding to Transportation Alternative programs including the Iowa
Clean Air Attainment Program (ICAAP); AND,
WHEREAS, said program allows for funding to be provided to local jurisdictions for eligible
transportation projects or programs that will contribute to meeting of National Ambient Air
Quality Standards; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has determined that reconstruction of the intersection of
Warrior Lane, Ashworth Drive and Northview Drive, known colloquially as the Five -Way
Intersection, will reduce vehicle delay and vehicle emissions through the installation of a four -
leg roundabout with Warrior Lane and Ashworth Drive and through the separation of Northview
Drive as a secondary T-intersection with Ashworth Drive.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WAUKEE, IOWA, THAT:
1. The City Council supports and approves the attached application for Iowa Clean Air
Attainment Program funding.
2. The City Council hereby commits to the City matching monies as required by Iowa
Clean Air Attainment Program.
3. The City Council hereby commits to accepting and maintaining these improvements.
4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the application on behalf of the City.
