AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 501,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
TRAFFIC REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA,BY ADDING
SECTION 501.37 "PROHIBITED TURNING MOVEMENTS"AS SPECIFIED BELOW
WHEREAS,Iowa Law allows the City to prohibit certain vehicular turning movements,including
U-turns,on streets and highways within the City;AND
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has determined that it in the public interest to prohibited Ll-turns at
intersections where such movements present a potential hazard to pedestrian and vehicular traffic;
AND
WHEREAS,traffic pattems at the intersection of Florence Dr.And University Avenue are such that
the City is desirous of restricting u-turns at that intersection.
BE IT ORDAlNED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Chapter 501,Waukee Municipal Code,Traffic Regulations,is hereby amended
by adding the following section:
PROHIBITED TURNING MOVEMENTS-UTURNS
§501.37 U-Tums.U-tums are prohibited at intersections where a sign is
posted indicating a If-turn is prohibited as indicated herein.
a.U-Turns are prohibited at the intersection of Florence Dr.
and University Avenue.
b.U-Tums are prohibited at the intersection of L.A.Grant,
Ashworth Road and University Avenue.
Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall he
adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance
as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,
Section 4.Effective Date.Tins ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,approval
and publication as provided by law.
Passed by the Council the 5th day of December,2011,and approved this 5th day of December,
2011.
