AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 501,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
TRAFFIC REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA,BY AMENDING
SECTION 501.20 FOR SCHOOL STOPS
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has determined that pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic
on e"street in the City of Waukee associated with activity at drop off and pick up of students at the
new Waukee Elementary School poses a public safety issue.
WHEREAS,the City Engineer has studied the area and recommended that traffic on 6th
street,at its intersection with Northview Drive,in Waukee stop during weekdays from 8:00 AM to
9:00AM and from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on days that school is in session.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Chapter 501,Waukee Municipal Code,Traffic Regulations,Section
501.20,should be and the same is hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof is Section 501.20,
School Stops,as follows:
§501.20 School Stops.
A.Between the hours of7:30 AM.to 4:30 P.M.,when a driver of a vehicle approaches an ]
authorized school stop he shall bring such vehicle to a full stop at a point ten (10)feet
from the approach side of the crosswalk marked by an authorized school stop sign,and
thereafter proceed in a careful and prudent manner until he shall have passed such school
site.
The following streets and intersections are school stops intersections,and stop signs shall
he placed at the entrance to said intersections as indicated.At the time that the said stop
signs are at said intersections,the driver of a vehicle shall stop in ohedience thereto as
provided in the suhsection.
1.At the intersection of Warrior Lane and Bel Aire Drive,controlling traffic on Warrior
Lane.
B.Between the hours of 8:00 AM.to 9:00 AM.and between the hours of 3:00 P.M.and
4:00 P.M.,when a driver of a vehicle approaches an authorized school stop the driver
shall bring such vehicle to a full stop at a point ten (10)feet from the approach side of the
crosswalk marked by all authorized school stop sign,and thereafter proceed in a careful
and prudent manner until he shall have passed such school site.
The following streets and intersections are school stops intersections,and stop signs shall I
be placed at the entrance to said intersections as indicated.At the time that the said stop

signs are at said intersections,the driver of a vehicle shan stop in obedience thereto as
provided in the snbsection.
1.At 6th street,at its intersection with Northview Dr,controlling traffic on 6'h St.
Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or ally section,provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Sectiou 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final
passage,approval and publication as provided by law.
