AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 203,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,BY
REPEALING THE EXISTING RATES FOR WATER AND ENACTING NEW RATES
AS SPECIFIED BELOW:
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has determined to change the rates for water usage.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1:Chapter 203,Waukee Municipal Code,Section 203.2 should be and the same
is hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof is as follows:
§203.2 Water Rates.Water shall be furnished at the following monthly rates per
meter within the city limits:
A.Beginning July 1,2009,a minimum monthly bill of$8.59 shall be charged
for zero to 1,000 gallons of metered water usage per month.
B.Beginning July 1,2009,water usage in excess of the minimum (1,000
gallons)will be charged at a rate of $5.83 per 1,000 gallons per month.
C.Beginning July 1,2010,a minimum monthly bill of $9.27 shall be charged
for zero to 1,000 gallons of metered water usage per month.
D.Beginning July 1,2010,water usage in excess of the minimum (1,000
gallons)will be charged at a rate of $6.30 per 1,000 gallons per month.
E.Water will not be furnished outside the limits of Waukee without consent
of Des Moines Water Works.Water furnished to users outside the city
limits of the City of Waukee shall be furnished at the same rate that is
charged for water furnished for users within the city limits of the City of
Waukee.
F.Minimum posting fees for non-paid utilities and mmunum fees tor
installation of water meters on new construction shall be set by resolution
of the Council.
G.Water Surcharges.A $100.00 surcharge shall be imposed for violations of
mandatory water usage policies or restrictions implemented under the
Water Conservation Plan.In addition,an additional $5.00 surcharge per
1,000 gallons used in excess of the respective allotments for residential
and commercial users pursuant to the water conservation plan.Said
surcharges shall be charged to the customer in the next billing cycle.
Section 2 Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall r )
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section,provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect on July I,2009 after its
final passage,approval and publication as provided by law.
