AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 501,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
REGARDING SPEED LIMITS ON SOME STREETS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA.
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee is has obtained the results of a traffic study prepared by
Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.dated January 21,2008;AND
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee has determined to implement changes to their ordinance
relative to speed limits on certain streets within the City of Waukee as a result of said traffic study.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1:Chapter 501,Waukee Municipal Code,Regulation of Traffic Upon and Use
ofthe Streets of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended by adding Section 501.9F(7)as follows:
§501.9(F)(7)The speed limit on Laurel Street,from the west line of Warrior Lane to the
east line of 4'h Street,shall be 30 miles per hOUT.
Section 2:Chapter 501,Waukee Municipal Code,Regulation of Traffic Upon and Use
of the Streets of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended by adding Section 501.9(F)(8)as follows:
§501.9(F)(8)The speed limit on 6th Street,from a line extended west from the northern
property line of the Cemetery,south to the north line of 300'h Street at its intersection
with 6th Street,shall be 35 miles per hour.
Section 3:Chapter 501,Waukee Municipal Code,Regulation of Traffic Upon and Use
of the Streets of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended by inserting Section501.9F(lA)as follows:
§501.9(F)(lA)The speed limit on University Avenue from the West line of Ashworth
Drive,if extended,to the East line of Warrior Lane,if extended,within the City of
Waukee,Iowa,shall be 35 miles per hour.
Section 4 Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 5.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section,provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 6.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final
passage,approval and publication as provided by law.
