AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 107.2,107.3 AND 108.6(11)OF THE
WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE AS IT PERTAINS TO THE FIRE CIDEF
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee seeks to enhance the Fire Protection Services within the
City ofWankee;and,
WHEREAS,the City had previously determined to engage the services of a full time fire
chief for the Fire Department;and,
WHEREAS,the process related to the hiring,reporting and discharge of a full time fire
chief will be the same as other department heads within the City and the Code should be
amended to appropriately reflect the same.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1:Section 107.2,of the Waukee Municipal Code,should be amended by
deleting "Fire Chief'there from.
Section 2:Section 107.3,of the Waukee Municipal Code,should be amended by
repealing section 107.3 and enacting in lieu thereof as follows:
§107.3 APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS.The mayor shall appoint the police
chief,subject to approval of the council.
Section 3:Section 108.6(11),of the Waukee Municipal Code,should be amended by
deleting "Fire Chief "there from.
Section 4.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances 111 conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section S.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section,provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 6.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect after its final passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
