1ANORDINANCETOAMENDCHAPTER107,PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT AND QUALIFICATION OF MUNICIPAL OFFICERS,BY
AMENDING SECTION 107.3,APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS,SO THAT THE
PROCEDURE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF THE POLICE CHIEF SHALL
COMPLY WITH IOWA CODE SECTION 400.13
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1:Chapter 107,Providing for the Appointment and Qualification of
Municipal Officers,Waukee Municipal Code,Section 107.3,Appointment of Officers,
shall be amended to read as follows:
§107.3 Appointment of Officers.The mayor shall appoint the
police chief,with the approval of the council.
The fire chief shall be appointed for a term of one (1)year by the members
of the volunteer fire department,with the approval of the council.
Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity
of the ordinance as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 5.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect upon its [mal passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
Passed by the Cilir Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,this loth day of July 2006,and
approved this 10 'day of July 2006 .
