AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 111,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL
CODE,SECTION 111.4,PETTY CASH FUNDS,BY REPEALING SAID
SECTION AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF SECTION 111.4,PROVIDING
FOR THE ADDITION OF UTILITY BILLING AS A DEPARTMENT IN WHICH
PETTY CASH FUNDS ARE LOCATED,AND DESIGNATING A MAXIMUM
FUND AVAILABLE FOR DISBURSEMENT IN THE UTILITY BILLING
DEPARTMENT
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council ofthe City of Waukee,Iowa:
Section 1.Chapter 111,Waukee Municipal Code,Section 111.4,Petty Cash
Funds,is hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof as follows:
§111.4.Petty Cash Funds.Petty cash funds are located in five
departments:Administration (City Hall),Library,Police,Public Works and Utility
Billing.The maximum fund available for disbursements in each department is:
Administration
Library
Police
Public Works
Utility Billing

Petty cash funds are to be used for payment of small claims for minor purchases,collect-
on-delivery transportation charges,and small fees customarily paid at the time of
rendering a service for which payments an authorized staff person shall obtain some form
of receipt or invoice acknowledged as paid by the vendor or his agent.At such time as
the petty cash fund in each department is approaching depletion the finance officer or
his/her designee submits the actual receipts or invoices for the month with account
numbers coded for each receipt or for each invoice.The finance officer shall draw a
warrant/check for replenishment in the amount of the accumulated expenditures and said
warrant and supporting detail shall be submitted to the council as a claim in the usual
manner for claims and charged to the proper funds and accounts.It shall not be used for
salary payments or other personal services or personal expenses.
Sectiun 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parls of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity
of the ordinance as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 5.Effective Date.This ordinaoce shall be in effect upon its final passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,this 24tl1 day ofJuly 2006,and
approved this 24th day of July 2006.
