AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 213A,SECTION 213A.3,WAUKEE
MUNICIPAL CODE,SOLID WASTE COLLECTION CHARGES,TO PROVIDE FOR AN
INCREASE IN MONTHLY SOLID WASTE COLLECTION CHARGES PER MONTII WITHIN
THE CITY LIMITS,PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE MINIMUM MONTHLY BILL
OF A SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE AND OF DWELLINGS OF TWO OR THREE UNITS
FROM $9.25 TO $12.14 TO BE CHARGED FOR PER MONTH AND INCREASING THE
CHARGE FOR SOLID WASTE COLLECTION CHARGES PER MONTH OF MULTI-FAMILY
DWELLINGS CONTAINING FOUR (4)OR MORE UNITS AND OF MOBILE HOMES IN
MOBILE HOME PARKS FROM $.80 TO $1.17 BY DELETING FROM SAID SECTION,
"$9.25",AND INSERTING IN LIEU THEREOF,"$12.14";AND BY DELETING FROM SAID
SECTION "$.80",AND INSERTING IN LIEU THEREOF,"$1.17";AND BY DELETING
"CONTAINERS FOR NEW HOMES SHALL BE $8.00."
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Chapter 213A,Section 213A.3,Waukee Municipal Code,Solid Waste Fees,is
amended by deleting therefrom "$9.25",and inserting in lieu thereof,"$12.14";and by deleting
from said section,"$.80",and inserting in lieu thereof,"$1.17";and by deleting "Containers for new
homes shall be $8.00."so that Section 213A.3 shall read as follows:
§213A.3.Collection Charges.The fees or charges to pay for expenses
incurred in the collection,processing and marketing of solid waste and recyclables
shall be:

A.For each single family residence,twelve dollars and fourteen cents ($12.14)
per month.
B.For a dwelling of two (2)or three (3)units,twelve dollars and fourteen cents
($12.14)per month.
C.Any multi-family dwelling containing four (4)or more units having a
commercial type of container that may be mechanically emptied,and any
Mobile Home Park,must follow Waukee Municipal Code provisions
relating thereto,covering the mandating of Recycling at Apartments and
Mobile Home Parks.Disposition of solid waste from all mobile homes,and
recycling bins at multiple sites will be provided by the Mobile Home Park
owner,who shall be responsible for compliance with ordinances of the City
of Waukee regarding disposition of solid waste and recycling.A fee of one
dollar and seventeen cents ($1.17)per month per unit will be billed by and
paid to the City.
D.Recycling Containers.The fee to replace a lost or stolen container shall be
$8.00.
Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions I
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall be
adjudged invalid or uuconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance
as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or uuconstitutional.
Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,approval
and publication as provided by law.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,this 3rd day of June 2002,and approved
this 3rd day ofJuue 2002.
