AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 301.8(5),WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA,RELATING TO MONUMENT
SIGNS,IS HEREBY AMENDED BY DELETING SECTION SUBSECTION 301.8(5)AND
INSERTING IN LIEU THEREOF PROVISIONS FOR FREESTANDING MONUMENT
IDENTIFICATION SIGNS,REGULATING THE NUMBER,SIZE INCUUDING HEIGHf,
AND MINIMUM SETBACK.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Section 301.8(5),Waukee Municipal Code,Zoning Ordinance of the City,
relating to monument signs,is hereby amended by deleting said subsection,and inserting in lieu
thereof the following:
5.Monument Signs.One (1)freestanding monument identification sign shall
be permitted for each frontage of a lot,or one (1)sign for each 300 feet of street,
whichever is greater,subject to provision hereinafter specifically set out:
The following freestanding monument identification signs shall be permitted
within the following zoning districts by use:

*In areas so designated,the placement and erection of monument signs is restricted to entry
signs placed in the first lot upon entry into a new development,no other exceptions will be
allowed or allowances made.Monument signs within developments are restricted in content
to only allow for the name of the development and such artwork as may be in keeping with
the residential nature of the area in question.The maximum begins at road grade;thus if the sign is placed 3'
below road grade,then the sign can technically be 18'v.IS'in height.ISection2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall be
adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance
as a whole or any section,provision,or prot thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
