AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 202,PROVIDING FOR RATES FOR GAS
FURNISHED USERS BY THE MUNICIPAL GASWORKS DISTRmUTTON SYSTEM OF THE
CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA,BY DELETING SAID CHAPTER AND INSERTING IN LIEU
THEREOF AMENDED GAS RATES,INCREASES,AND MANNER OF PROVISION OF
SERVICES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE AS FOllOWS:
Section 1.Chapter 202,Waukee Municipal Code is hereby amended by deleting said
chapter and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
Section 2.Monthly Rates.The following monthly rates to be charged for gas
furnished the users thereof within the corporate limits of the City of Waukee shall be and are
established as follows:
A.Rate Schedule No.1 -Small Volume (Firm)This rate is
applicable to all firm natural gas service normally supplied
through one meter as a single point of delivery for all
residential and industrial customers that consume 1000
therms (IOOccf)or less per month:
Service Charge per Meter $8.75
Non-gas Commodity Charge per therm $0.175
Purchased Gas Calculation (pGC)-shall be calculated each
month by dividing the total quantity of therms delivered to
the city into the total dollars spent to have natural gas
delivered to the City Town Border Stations (TBS)
The above rate shall be subject to the monthly Sales Volume
Adjustment (SV A).The SV A shall adjust the Non-Gas
Commodity Charge for monthly volume variations.
B.Rate Schedule No.2 -Large Volume (Firm)This rate is
applicable to all firm natural gas service normally supplied
through one meter as a single point of delivery for all
residential commercial and industrial customers that
consume 1000 therms (100ccf)or less per month:
Service Charge per Meter $17.50
Non-gas Commodity Charge per therm $0.130
Purchased Gas Calculation (pGC)-shall be calculated each
month by dividing the total quantity of therms delivered to
the city into the total dollars spent to have natural gas
delivered to the City Town Border Stations (TBS)
The above rate shall be subject to the monthly Sales Volume
Adjustment (SV A).The SV A shall adjust the Non-Gas
Commodity Charge for monthly volume variations.

C.Rate Schedule No.3·Interruptible Commercial This rate
is applicable to any customer for non-domestic purposes
where all service is taken through a single meter at one
location,and where the average daily consumption is equal
to or greater than 1000 thems per day.The customer must be
able to curtail the use of natural gas within 4 hours of
notification.
Service Charge per Meter $50.00
Non-gas Commodity Charge per therm $0.05
Purchased Gas Calculation (pGC)-shall be calculated each
month by dividing the total quantity of therrns delivered to
the city into the total dollars spent to have natural gas
delivered to the City Town Border Stations (TBS)
The above rate shall be subject to the monthly Sales Volume
Adjustment (SV A).The SVA shall adjust the Non-Gas
Commodity Charge for monthly volume variations.
JFailuretoCurtailPenalty•The City shall assess the following
penalty charges,in addition to the priced,for failure to curtail natural
gas consumption within 4 hours of notifications:
Non-Critical Day*-$8.75 per therm consumed after the notification
period.
Critical Day*-$5.60 per therm consumed after the notification
period.
*As called by Northern Natural Gas.
Late Payment Charge -A late payment charge of 1.5%shall be
added to the past due amount if the bill is not paid by the due date.
Minimum Charge -The minimum charge is the service charge plus
the commodity charge for all the therms used.
Section 2.Rate Increase.Any rate increases after November 1,1999,which I
are made by the supplier of natural gas to the Waukee Municipal Gasworks Distribution
System shall be passed on to the consumer additional to the above rates,and shall be
reflected in a subsection of the Gas Bill sent to said consumer.
Section 3.DisconnectionJReconnection Policy The DisconnectionlReconnection
Policy shall he set hy resolution of the City Council of the City of Waukee,and shall remain
in full force and effect until amended by the CounciL
Section 4.Installation of Gas Meter Extensions.
§202.3.Installation of Gas Meter Extensions.When in the opinion of the City
Clerk,a meter is inaccessible to the reader because of location,prohibited entry due to animals or
barriers,or any other reason,the City Clerk may cause to be installed a gas meter extension and
shall charge the cost of said gas meter extension and the installation thereof to the user.

§202.4 Payment.Gas payments shall be governed by the Waukee Municipal
Utilities Gas Tariff,as the same may,from time to time,be amended,on file with the Iowa State
Commerce Commission.

§202.5 Enforcement.The City Council may,by resolution,establish rules for the
termination of gas service to any customer who has become delinquent and fails to remedy said
delinquency after reasonable notice.
§202.6.Amendments.The said City may from time to time,by ordinance,change
and readjust the foregoing rates to be charged for gas where it is deemed advisable in the
judgment of the City Council,with approval of outstanding bondholders of record.
§202.7.Compulsory Meter Check.Every meter shall be removed from service at
least once each 10 years and thoroughly tested for accuracy.Any meter found inaccurate beyond
a tolerance of two (2%)percent shall not be returned to service until properly adjusted.
§202.8.Fees,Charges and Expenses.The City Council shall,by resolution,
establish a schedule of fees,charges and expenses for the extension or installation of gas service
lines by the City of Waukee,The schedule of fees,charges and expenses shall be posted in the
office of the administrative official,and may be altered or amended only by a resolution of the
City CounciL
§202.9.Waiving of Installation and hook-up fees.Installation or hook-up fees
may be waived for non-profit organizations or other charitable purposes when deemed acceptable
by the city counciL
Section 5.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances III conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance me hereby repealed.
Section 6.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the )
ordinance as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 7.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
