RESOLUTION 19-449
RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE OF SHELLY HUGHES AS
COUNCIL MEMBER FOR THE CITY OF WAUKEE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WA UKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, Shelly Hughes served as a Waukee City Council Member from November 2011 to
December 2019; AND,
WHEREAS, while serving on the City Council, Shelly was also a member of the Metro Advisory
Council, Dallas County Housing Trust Board and City Personnel Committee, and was a key planner
in many City festivals; AND,
WHEREAS, Shelly also served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2013; AND,
WHEREAS, during her tenure on the Waukee City Council, Shelly played a vital role in a period
of tremendous growth and progress in the community, including significant population increases,
record -breaking building permit and valuation statistics, the opening of Grand Prairie Parkway and
the Kettlestone development corridor, and the Apple Data Center announcement; AND,
WHEREAS, Shelly's willingness to serve her community on the Waukee City Council and her
commitment to the betterment of Waukee for all its residents is an outstanding example of public
service.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 16"'
day of December, 2019, that it hereby approves the expression of appreciation and thanks to Shelly
Hughes for her dedicated service on the Waukee City Council.
