AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 108 OF THE WAUKEE MUNICI-
PAL CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ADDING SECTION 108.12 CREATING
OFFICE OF PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR AND ESTABLISHING POWERS AND
DUTIES OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Chapter 108 of the Code of Ordinances of the
Ci ty of Waukee,Iowa,is hereby amended by adding thereto
the duties of the public works supervisor as follows:
Under general supervision of the City Clerk to super-
vise,organize,direct and assist a crew of workers in skil-
led and semi-skilled public works and maintenance work;and
to perform related duties as required,including the follow-
ing:
A.Direct,supervise and assist a construction and
maintenance crew in construction,repairing or
maintaining streets,buildings,culverts,curbs and
sidewalks,storm drains,catch basins,and other
public works structures,install water meters and
lines and maintain same,
B.Direct and assist in installation of gas meters and
lines and maintain same,
C.Direct and perform general maintenance on City owned
equipment;
D.Supervise
topping,
weeds;
and assist in the oiling of roads,black-
the removal of trees and the mowing of
E.Supervise and assist in the removal of snow;
F.Supervise and assist in the operation,maintenance
and testing of the sewage system,
G.The public works supervisor shall have the authority
to purchase items he deems necessary for his depart-
ment not to exceed $500 per purchase for the admini-
stration of his office without prior council approv-
al.
