HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB - Digital Marketing SpecialistDigital Marketing Specialist Library Board Approved 1-12-2021 Council Approved 1-18-2021 Revised 10-2021, 7-2023 ity of Waukee JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Digital Marketing Specialist (FT) Reports to: Library Director Dept/Div: Library Direct Reports: None Pay Grade: L33 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt JOB PURPOSE: The Digital Marketing Specialist will manage the ongoing development and implementation of the library’s communications, including the website, mobile site, social media platforms, print publications, and signage to inform various audiences of library information and news. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.) 1. Works with the Library Director and implements a strategic vision and implementation plan for the library’s digital content and collections, website, social media, and communications. 2. Creates, manages, and maintains digital content for the library website, social media, and other web-based platforms. 3. Promotes library programs, services, resources, and events both online and in print formats (posters, bookmarks, calendars, newsletters, fliers, print mailings, library signage, brochures and media, etc.) to engage patrons and create awareness of the library. 4. Appropriately responds to or shares patron feedback and comments in a timely manner. 5. Develops and executes targeted email marketing and social media campaigns to library patrons and the community. 6. Prepares written communications for publication highlighting the library. 7. Works collaboratively with other library staff on multiple projects with tight deadlines. 8. Uses brand standards and guidelines to develop and maintain a consistent visual style across all projects. 9. Monitors and analyzes digital marketing metrics to track success and prepare reports. 10. Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. SUCCESS FACTORS: 1. Maintains knowledge of current holdings and library resources, both print and electronic. 4. Demonstrated success in interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. 5. Deep understanding of professional social media platforms, strategies, and trends. 6. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive marketing strategies. Continually seeks and participates in opportunities for continuing education and professional growth. 7. Demonstrates sound time-management skills by effectively and efficiently organizing, prioritizing, and completing multiple assignments in a timely manner. 8. Understands and internalizes the importance of seeking resolution to problems and concerns by bringing them to the direct attention of supervisor in a timely manner. 9. Attentive to the City’s and Library’s standards for customer service, accuracy, quality, efficiency and all City and Library policies and procedures. 10. Represents the City professionally and effectively to the community and library patrons. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or closely related field. 2. 2 years experience in a professional digital marketing role. 3. Demonstrated experience with Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and website content management. Experience with photo and video editing. 6. Excellent written communication, copyediting, and proofreading skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Required to move or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. 2. Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork. 3. Be able to effectively communicate orally (in person and over the telephone) and in writing (using electronic and handwritten) in English with other employees, library patrons, and the community. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Climate-controlled library with hazards typical of that environment, minimal outdoor work is required. 2. Standard work hours. Occasional evenings or weekends as needed. 3. To successfully fulfill the essential functions of this position, employee must maintain standard work hours within Waukee Public Library building. 4.
