NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa in session this 22nd day of September 2008,that: I.The Waukee City Council supports and approves the attached application for Federal Surface Transportation Program funding. 2.The Waukee City Council hereby commits the City of Waukee to provide matching funds,secured through public and private investment,as required by the Federal Surface Transportation Program. 3.The City of Waukee hereby commits to accepting and maintaining these improvements,once completed,for a minimum of twenty (20)years following the completion. 4.The Mayor of Waukee is hereby authorized to approve and execute the application on behalf ofthe Waukee City Council. Alice's Road is a major north -south arterial roadway within the western Des Moines Metropolitan area.Alice's Road currently provides direct access to Hickman Road (Highway 6)for the communities of Waukee.Clive and Urbandale. The Cities of Waukee and West Des Moines are currently working together on the design.with construCtion to be completed by'December 2009,of a bridge over Interstate 80 with a connection of Alice's Road to Ashworth Road to the north as well as a connection of Alice's Road/1 05'"Street to E,P.True Parkway south of Interstate 80.A full interchange at this intersection is anticipated in the future. The remaining segment of Alice's Road between University Avenue and Ashworth Road is currently under design and is expected to be completed in 2010. At such time as the areas of Alice's Road south of University Avenue including the bridge over Interstate 80 are completed,this corridor will become even more significant as it will provide a direct north-south link between communities located north of Hickman Road (Highway 6)to West Des Moines. It is anticipated that this corridor over time will develop with substantial commercial and office uses which will necessitate the need for a six lane roadway.
