PRELIMINARY RESOLUTION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS IN THE
CITY OF WAUIZEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,this Council,after a study ofthe requirements,is of the opinion that it
is necessary and desirable that sanitary sewer improvements and extensions together with
related work be constructed within Waukee,Iowa,as hereinafter described;and
WHEREAS,it is proposed that the project be constructed as a single improvement
under the authority granted by Division IV of Chapter 384 of the City Code ofIowa:
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WAUKEE,IOWA:
Subdivision Ao That Waukee,Iowa,construct sanitary sewer improvements and
extensions together with related work,as hereinafter described.
Subdivision B.The beginning and terminal points ofthe improvements shall be as
follows:
SOUTH AREA TRUNK SEWER,WAUKEE,IOWA
Construction ofthe South Area Trunk Sewer project includes approximately,2,250
linear feet of 24-inch diameter gravity flow sanitary sewer,90 linear feet of 8-inch
to l5-inch diameter gravity flow sanitary sewer,manholes,drop connections,
creek crossings,clearing and grubbing,surface restoration,and miscellaneous
associated work.
The project begins near an existing lift station located on the west side of County
Highway R-22 (also known as Ute Avenue)approximately 250 feet north of
Cotton Wood Drive.From the lift station,a 24-inch diameter sewer extends
easterly across County Highway R-22 to a manhole located just west of Outlot
28A of Painted Woods,an official plat in Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa.The
sewer continues from the manhole and extends southeasterly a distance of
approximately 700 feet to a point in Outlot 23A of Painted Woods.The 24-inch
sewer then extends easterly a distance of approximately 1,020 feet to a point in
Outlot 17A of Painted Woods.The sewer then extends northerly and easterly
distance of approximately 145 feet and 275 feet,respectively,to end at a terminal
manhole located at the east end of said Outlot 17A.
Subdivision C.That Veenstra &Kinun,Inc.of West Des Moines,Iowa,having
been employed as Engineer to prepare plats,schedules,estimates,plans and specifications
and otherwise to act in the capacity with respect to the proj ect is hereby ordered to
prepare and file with the Clerk preliminary plans and specifications and estimates of the
total cost ofthe work and the plat and schedule of special assessments against benefited
properties.
Subdivision D.That this Council hereby determines that all property within the
area hereinafter described will be specially benefitted by the improvements,to-wit:
SOUTH AREA TRUNK.SEWER,WAUKEE,IOWA
AREA OF ASSESSMENT
An area in Section 8,Township 78 North,Range 26 West of the 5th Principal
Meridian,in Dallas County,Iowa,more particularly described as follows:
Painted Woods,an official plat in Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa.
Subdivision E.The improvement shall be designated as the "South Area Trunk
Sewer,Waukee,Iowa",and such name shall be a sufficient designation to refer to the
improvement in all subsequent proceedings.
