Preliminary resolution pursuant to Section 384.42 of the Iowa Code covering the
South Area Pump Station and Trunk Sewer Project
WHEREAS,it is deemed advisable by the City Council of the City ofWankee,Iowa (the
"City")that certain public improvements be constructed in the City in accordance with the
provisions of Chapter 384 of the Code of Iowa,and a portion of the cost be assessed to the
property benefited thereby;and
WHEREAS,the City has arranged for engineering services with Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.,
in connection with the said improvement;
NOW,THEREFORE,It Is Resolved by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,as
follows:
Section 1.The South Area Pump Station and Trunk Sewer project consists of four
Divisions,as follows:
Division 1 includes construction of a 0.144 million gallons per day (mgd)
pump station,approximately 2,720 linear feet of 4-inch diameter force main,air
release manholes,surface restoration and miscellaneous associated work.The
0.144 mgd pumping station is located approximately 370 feet west and 330 feet
south of the northeast corner of the northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of
Section 8,Township 78 North,Range 26 West.A 4-inch diameter sanitary force
main begins at the 0.144 mgd pumping station and extends northwesterly
approximately 510 feet;thence westerly approximately 1,435 feet;thence
northwesterly approximately 775 and discharges into an existing 48-inch diameter
manhole located on the west side of County Highway R-22 approximately 230
feet north of Cottonwood Drive.
Division 2 includes construction of approximately 2,290 linear feet of 8-
inch to 24-inch diameter sanitary sewer,manholes,drop connections,surface
restoration,and miscellaneous associated work.Two l5-inch diameter sanitary
sewers begin in the vicinity of the pumping station located on the west side of
County Highway R-22 approximately 250 feet north of Cottonwood Drive.The
two l5-inch diameter sanitary sewers extend easterly across County Highway R-
22 to a an 84-inch diameter manhole located on the east side of County Highway
R-22 approximately 230 feet north of Cottonwood Drive.A 24-inch diameter
sanitary sewer begins at the 84-inch diameter manhole and extends southeasterly
approximately 700 feet;thence westerly approximately 1,435 and terminates at an
84-inch diameter manhole located approximately 730 feet west of the northeast
corner of the northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 8,Township 78
North,Range 26 West.
Divisions 3 and 4 include construction of approximately 503 linear feet of
48-inch diameter sanitary sewer,manholes,surface restoration,and miscellaneous
associated work.A 48-inch diameter sanitary sewer begins at the 84-inch
manhole where the 24-inch diameter sanitary sewer terminates and extends
southeasterly approximately 503 feet to the terminal manhole ofthe project.
It is considered that the property within the following described boundaries will be
specially benefited by this improvement and should be specially assessed:
Areas in Sections 6,7 and 8 of Township 78 North,Range 26 West of the 5th
Principal Meridian located in and near the City of Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa,
more particularly described as follows:

Section 2.The Project Engineers are hereby ordered to prepare preliminary plans and
specifications,an estimated total cost of the work and a plat and schedule and to file the same
with the City Clerk,and shall include in the estimated cost a default fund item of not to exceed
10%of the amount to be assessed against specially benefited property.
Section 3.The improvement shall be known as the "South Area Pump Station and
Trunk Sewer Project,"and shall be so referred to in all subsequent proceedings.
Section 4.All resolutions,parts of resolutions,or actions of the Council in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed,to the extent of such conflict.
