HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-05-21-Resolutions 07-101_Homeland Security Services - 28E AgrTHE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA RESOLUTION 07-101 APPROVING THE CHAPTER 28E AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITIES OF DES MOINES,ALTOONA,ANKENY,BONDURANT,CARLISLE,CLIVE,DE SOTO,GRIMES,INDIANOLA,JOHNSTON,MITCHELLVILLE,NORWALK, PLEASANT HILL,POLK CITY,URBANDALE,WAUKEE,WEST DES MOINES AND WINDSOR HEIGHTS AND THE COUNTIES OF POLK,DALLAS AND WARREN FOR THE FUNDING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF HOMELAND SECURITY SERVICES WITHIN THE METROPOLITAN AREA IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized Municipal Organization;AND, WHEREAS,an agreement under Iowa Code Chapter 28E has been negotiated by and among the cities of Des Moines,Altoona,Ankeny,Bondurant,Carlisle,Clive,De Soto,Grimes,Indianola, Johnston,Mitchellville,Norwalk,Pleasant Hill,Polk City,Urbandale,Waukee,West Des Moines and Windsor Heights and the Counties of Polk,Dallas and Warren for the funding and implementation of homeland security services within the metropolitan area;AND, IWHEREAS,said agreement will provide for the expansion of assets and resources available to respond to threats of weapons of mass destruction,potential terrorist activity,and natural disasters in an effort to enhance the safety and security of residents throughout the greater Des Moines metropolitan area;AND, WHEREAS,the City of Waukee agrees to contribute an amount not to exceed $13,600.88 in annual funding for the homeland security services for the three (3)fiscal years 2008,2009 and 2010,for a maximum total three-year contribution of$40,802.65; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa on this the 21 s day of May 2007 that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into the 28E Agreement with the above-named cities and counties for homeland security s ices.
