Preliminary resolution pursuant to Section 384.42 of the Iowa Code covering the
Southfork and Walnut Ridge Sanitary Sewer Project
WHEREAS,it is deemed advisable by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa (the
"City")that certain public improvements be constructed in the City in accordance with the
provisions of Chapter 384 of the Code of Iowa,and a portion of the cost be assessed to the
property benefitted thereby;and
WHEREAS,the City has arranged for engineering services with Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.,
in connection with the said improvement;
NOW,THEREFORE,It Is Resolved by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,as
follows:
Section 1.The Southfork and Walnut Ridge Sanitary Sewer proj ect consists of
the following improvements:
All labor,materials and equipment necessary for approximately 22,815 linear feet of2-inch trough
4-inch sewer main directionally bored in place,1 I a grinder lift stations,excavation,backfill,
connections to existing sewer services,electrical connections,startup,air release manholes,a
booster station,electrical work,surface restoration and miscellaneous associated work,within the
Southfork and Walnut Ridge Subdivisions.
It is considered that the property within the following described boundaries will be
specially benefited by this improvement and should be specially assessed:
An area in Section 36 of Township 79 North,Range 26 West of the 5th Principal Meridian located in the City of
Waukee,Dallas County,Iowa,more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at the southwest comer of the east half of the southwest quarter of said Section 36;thence northerly
along the west line of the east half of the southwest quarter of Section 36 to the north right-of-way line of University
Avenue,said point being the point of beginning;thence continuing northerly along the said west line of the east half
of the southwest quarter of Section 36 to the north line of the southwest quarter of Section 36;thence easterly along
the north line of the southwest quarter of Section 36 to the northeast corner of the southwest quarter of Section 36;
thence easterly along the north line of the southeast quarter of Section 36 to the northeast corner of Section 36;
thence southerly along the east line of Section 36 to a point on the north right-of-way line of University Avenue;
thence westerly along the north right-of-way line of University Avenue to the point of beginning.
Section 2.The Project Engineers are hereby ordered to prepare preliminary plans and
specifications,an estimated total cost of the work and a plat and schedule and to file the same
with the City Clerk,and shall include in the estimated cost a default fund item of not to exceed
10%of the amount to be assessed against specially benefited property.
Section 3.The improvement shall be known as the "Southfork and Walnut Ridge
Sanitary Sewer Project,"and shall be so referred to in all subsequent proceedings.
Section 4.All resolutions,parts of resolutions,or actions of the Council in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed,to the extent of such conflict.
