RESOLUTION 07-196
APPROVING THE "2007 SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL IOWA"GRANT
APPLICATION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee,Dallas County,State ofIowa,is a duly organized
Municipal Organization;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee City Council believes strongly in promoting safety and
encouraging physical activity for the children of the community;AND,
WHEREAS,the Iowa Department of Transportation has invited communities in the state
to apply for grants through the 2007 Safe Routes to School Iowa program,with the funds
awarded to be applied toward infrastructure projects intended to improve pedestrian and
bicycle safety and access,and toward non-infrastructure activities to encourage walking
and bicycling to school through education and public awareness campaigns;AND,
WHEREAS,in order to be considered for grant money from the Iowa Department of
Transportation as part of this program,an official endorsement from the Waukee City
Council is required;J
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session
this 17th day of September 2007 that it hereby approves and endorses the 2007 Safe Routes
to School Iowa grant application.
