A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A CHANGE IN THE
PROPOSED ROUTE FOR THE RACOON VALLEY BIKE
TRAIL IN WAUKEE BETWEEN R-22 AND 4TH STREET.
WHEREAS,there is designed an extension of the Racoon Valley Bike Path/Recreation Trail that
will be a part of the Highway-6 project;and
WHEREAS,the proposed route east ofR-22!North lOth Street makes its way through a number of
properties in the City's North 6th Street Industrial Park;and
WHEREAS,a number of these property owners have expressed their concerns about the proposed
route for the bike path and the effect the proposed bike path will have on the usability of their
property and their ability to expand their businesses;and
WHEREAS,an alternate route has been suggested which would alter the route and alleviate the
affected property owner's concerns "ATTACHMENT A";
WHEREAS,all the affected property owners have signed a petition supporting the alternate route
which lessens the impact the bike path/recreation trail will have on their property;
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the Waukee City Council supports the property
owners and the relocation of the Racoon Valley Bike Path/Recreation Trail as indicated on
"Attachment A,"and hereby requests that the Iowa Department of Transportation to consider the
request to relocate the trail as part of the Highway-S project,and that a maximum of a 20 foot ROW,
preferably less,be used when possible.
