A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO CHANGE
THE DESIGNATION OF LAUREL AND EAST LAUREL STREET FROM ARTERIAL
TO MAJOR COLLECTOR.
WHEREAS,the Waukee Planning and Zoning Connnission and the City Council have carefully
reviewed the city's comprehensive plan,and recent and futnre development;and
WHEREAS,that review has shown that the maximum uninterrupted distance of Laurel Street will
only be two (2)miles;and
WHEREAS,in that two mile stretch there will be numerous intersections,stop signs and possibly
traffic signalization;and
WHEREAS,Laurel and East Laurel is adjacent and parallel to Highway-6 which will be five lanes
in the city's near future allowing for heavy movement of traffic;and
WHEREAS,from the City's current and proposed development it does not appear that Laurel can
or will function as a Major Arterial,but more as a Major Collector;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the City's Comprehensive Plan be amended to
designate Laurel and East Laurel as a Major Collector and the ROW required be reduced to 70 feet.
