Home My WebLink About1999-06-21-Resolutions 99-67_Sick Leave Accumulation PolicyCITY OFWaukeeATHEKEYTOGOODLIVING RESOLUTION NO.99-67 SETTING NEW POLICY FOR COMPENSATION OF ACCUMULATED SICK LEAVE AND DEFINING GRADE AND STEP POLICY WHEREAS,It is in the interest of clarity to defme the specifics of the treatment of accumulated sick leave upon retirement or resignation;and WHEREAS,It is also in the interest of the City of Waukee and its employee's to have the grade and step system clearly defined. NOW THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the following changes and additions are to be made to the Employee Handbook: Section 4 Leaves of Absence 12.In the event an employee resigns or retires,no accumulated and unused sick leave will be paid. Section 5 Earnings and Hours Worked GRADE AND STEP SYSTEM All City of Waukee Departments (excluding the Library)are on a Grade and Step System.Upon hiring each employee is to be informed of their Grade and Step on said system.An employee hired at the Start Step on any grade will receive a half (Yz)step increase upon the first pay period following their sixth (6)month of employment.A second half (Yz)step increase will be received on the first pay period following their first (1)year of employment. Employees starting at step one,two or three (1,2 or 3)will receive a step increase on the first pay period a year after their date of hire.A step increase will be received for each following year of employment upon the first pay period falling after their date hire until such time as said employee is topped out of the step system (i.e.they reach step four (4)). Exceptions.Step increases are to be considered automatic upon the pay period following the anniversary of an employees hire date unless an employee has received written disciplinary action from a departmental head. Upon recommendation of a department head,an employee may be moved into a new pay grade or step with the consent of the City Administrator and with the approval of the City Council as required. ) I Passed and Accepted this 21 sf day of June,1999.
