AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO NEGOTIATE A 28·E AGREEMENT WITH DES MOINES
WATERWORKS FOR THE PROVISION OF UTILITY METER READING AND BILLING I
AND COLLECTION SERVICES
WHEREAS,the City of Waukee is interested in providing the most cost effective services to Waukee
residents,AND,
WHEREAS,the City has had difficulty obtaining reliable utility meter reading services,AND,
WHEREAS,a review of Utility billing and collection costs has concluded that these functions could be
provided more cost effectively on a contractual basis,AND,
WHEREAS,Des Moines Waterworks currently provides meter reading and billing and collection
services for the City of Des Moines and the Cities of Ankeny,Pleasant Hill,Windsor Heights and the
Polk County Benefited Water District,AND,
WHEREAS,Des Moines Waterworks has provided a quotation of $2.39 per account per month to
provide meter reading and billing and collection services,AND,
WHEREAS,costs for the City of Waukee to provide these same services is set for FY 2001 at $3.93 per
account per month,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 17'h day
of April,2000 that is hereby authorizes the City staff to develop a one year agreement with Des Moines )
Waterworks for the provision of meter reading and billin and collection services.
