RESOLUTION 00-58
APPROVING PURCHASE OF PROPERTY FROM BAER AGRICULTURAL SUPPLY
WHEREAS,North 6th Street in the City of Waukee does not currently connect to Highway 6,AND,
WHEREAS,an improved access to Highway 6 is needed for those businesses located on North 6th
Street,AND,
WHEREAS,the Iowa Department of Transportation has agreed to install a radius intersection at its
expense for the North 6th Street connection,AND,
WHEREAS,street light of way needs to be acquired in order to construct the intersection,AND,
WHEREAS,City staff have negotiated a potential purchase of the .23 acre right of way needed from
Baer Agricultural Supply for a price of $40,075.20 or $4.00 per square foot,AND,
WHEREAS,acquisition of similar property was made by the Iowa Department of Transportation for an
average of $4.55 per square foot,AND,
WHEREAS,funding for this acquisition is available in the FY 2001 City budget and the FY 2000
budget amendment,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 15th day
of May,2000 that it hereby approves the purchase of .23 acres from Baer Agricultural Supply for the
price of $40,075.20 with said property to be used for the north 6th Street right of way.
