RESOLUTION 03-30
APPROVING DESIGNATION OF VEENSTRA &KIMM,INC.
AS DESIGN ENGINEERS FOR ASHWORTH ROAD PAVEMENT OVERLAY
FROM GRANT PARKWAYcY AVENUE)
TO ASHWORTH ROAD /1-80 CROSSING AT $11,175.00
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.were approved as the engineering firm selected to
provide the design work fOTnine projects on the Urban Renewal Capital Improvements
List;AND,
WHEREAS,the original proj ect of asphalt overlay from Waco Place to approximately
300 feet west ofVennillion Court was one of the nine projects;AND,
WHEREAS,now that the entire portion of Ashworth between 1-80 and V Avenue is in
the City,it is in the City's interest to pave the entire section;AND,
WHEREAS,the cost for design work for this project is $11,175.00 fOT9,300 feet of
pavement overlay versus the original price plus 3%of$3,605 fOT3,000 feet;AND,
WHEREAS,the calculation of the cost based on the original bid price plus 3%fOT
increased labor costs,is fair and reasonable;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 3'd day of February 2003 that it hereby approves Veenstra &Kimm,Inc.as
the design engineers for the Ashworth Road Pavement Overlay from Grant Parkway (V
Avenue)to Ashworth Road /I-80 crossing at a price of$11,175.00.
